We help a client transform a dated space into a modern bathroom retreat with spa-like qualities
Bathroom design project in Shepperton
At the core of our clients brief for the main bathroom in his Shepperton home was to completely transform the existing dated bathroom and create a modern retreat with spa-like qualities.
Incorporating both a walk-in shower and separate bath was really important to him, and working with our expert bathroom designers we were able to help him space-plan and select key products and finishes to make his dreams a reality, as he saw detailed plans come together in our 3D software tools as part of our full design service.
He wanted a calm, natural warmth in the space, avoiding any colours that might feel too cold. Our Roma Marfil tiles from Porcelanosa have brought an elegant and warm marble-effect into the room, featuring soft calming veins running vertically through the tiles.
Using the large format 45x120cm for the walls, and 59.6x120cm for the floors, creates a sophisticated and seamless surface that also promotes a feeling of space and well-being in the room.
Designing in the modern walk-in shower, this has been positioned full-width across the shorter wall of the room, still enabling the generous dimensions of a 1700mm long and 800mm wide slate shower tray from Matki, paired with a 1100mm Matki wet-room panel, both creating a sleek and minimalist feel.
Overhead showering comes from our Hansgrohe Croma Select S Shower System, which pampers you with two indulging jet types, along with the Raindance Select S wall-mounted hand-shower. The spa-like feeling our client wanted is further enhanced with the addition of a relaxing seat-bench designed into the corner of the shower, and ambient illumination inside the shower recess shelf.
The bath needed to be reasonably space saving, so a full free-standing option wasn’t a practical choice. Our Waters Baths Ebb single-ended back-to-wall design is the perfect compromise, promoting a space-saving fit but with the luxurious look and feel of a free-standing tub.
The space-saving bath left room to fit in a generous vanity unit for plenty of added storage. The Villeroy & Boch Subway Washbasin and Vanity Unit offers two generous drawers and a 600mm width. The wood finish selected for the unit adds a further spa-like touch, along with the addition of our HiB Arcane Pill Mirror, which features ambient colour temperature changing LED illumination.
Extra touches that add to the design and function of the space include a bespoke inset mirror cabinet, built over the top of the Villeroy & Boch wall-hung WC, and the contemporary sleek lines of our JIS Lindfield Towel Rail.
The finished room is the perfect blend of warm tones, modern function and calming spa-like design our client had hoped for.
